Brand Source Adds Maytag to Roster
Brand Source has added 450 Maytag Stores and Home Appliance Centers to its membership roster and created a separate division for the dealers, the buying group’s CEO, Bob Lawrence, said during Day Two of the organization’s largest-ever national convention in Las Vegas.
The relationship, which just became official after three years of talks, bringing Brand Source’s cumulative membership to over 4,000, was a natural fit for both entities, said Lawrence. “Maytag’s Dealer Council saw that all the programs we offer that support our members made sense for them. There was lots of common ground. They will continue to buy from Whirlpool/Maytag, as they have in the past, and anything that doesn’t compete with the Whirlpool brand, they can buy from us.”
The announcement was one of a bevy made at the meeting, where attendance exceeded last August’s numbers by about 40 percent, he said. The convention this year filled both the Paris Hotel and Bally’s and spilled into a third hotel, Harrah’s, for the first time ever. Lawrence said the group’s growth is a testament to the fact that “we’re outperforming other independents, due to our branding and advertising efforts. We’re better at getting footprints in the store.”
