Maytag's High Expectations For Independent Dealers

The Maytag man may have had it easy for the last 50 years, but with the introduction of a new line of appliance products, independent dealers have their hands full. Ending 2003, Maytag introduced two new products into its Neptune line. While the Neptune TL washer and dryer system are designed to appeal to a wide demographic, according to Brett Oleson, Maytag's sales education development consultant, price points and sophisticated technology are making it a good fit for independents.
"When we go into these things," explains Oleson, "we always have a typically Maytag demographic, the older 45-plus consumer. But what we're finding is that by doing research, we're appealing to more than we thought."
