Microsoft to Open Retail Stores
Microsoft is planning to open its first retail stores, and the software giant has hired a former Walmart executive in order to put the plan in motion, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.
The move is similar to Apple's Apple Retail Stores and Sony's Sony Style chain. Microsoft opened a "Retail Experience" prototype store near its Redmond, Wash. headquarters earlier this year.
Executive David Porter, a 25-year veteran of Walmart, will supervise the project and determine the placement and timing of the effort.
