Zune Sales Plunge
Sales of Microsoft's Zune device fell dramatically in the fourth quarter, raising new questions about the future of the portable music player.
According to CNET, which cited Microsoft's recent SEC filing, the company's revenue from the Zune brand fell 54 percent in the most recent quarter, a decrease of $100 million in revenue. This came as rival Apple reported a strong quarter built largely on strong iPod sales.
Zune's marketing director told the site that drop was attributable to the economy and strength in that category, as well as the lack of a new Zune device in recent months.
