Microsoft Unveils Surface Tablet
Microsoft Monday fired the first salvo of its entry in the tablet wars, unveiling its new Microsoft-branded Surface tablet as well as accessories.
The unveiling of the Windows 8-based tablet took place at a press event in Los Angeles, which had been advertised only as a "major announcement" from the company.
The Surface tablet will come in both ARM- and Intel-based versions, and both will sport 10.6-inch screens with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The headline accessory is a "touch cover," similar to the iPad's SmartCover except that it also has a keyboard.
