Microsoft went more than 30 years without carrying out a round of layoffs, before doing so in January. The software giant didn't wait nearly as long the second time.
The software giant Tuesday announced that it will lay off 3,000 additional layoffs, in addition to the 1,400 positions that were eliminated in the first round. The company in January had announced plans to eventually eliminate 5,000 positions by 2010.
According to Reuters, CEO Steve Ballmer says the cuts announced earlier are now "mostly but not all done.
