Microsoft-Yahoo Merger Called “Likely”

D” target=”_blank”>MarketWatch reported yesterday, a week after the software giant made a $44.6 billion unsolicited offer for the Internet portal.
Analysts from Banc of America Securities and International Data Corp. both told MarketWatch that they expected Yahoo to take the offer, which was at a significant premium from its stock price at the time. One of the analysts, however, cautioned that Google or another company could swoop in and offer more for Yahoo. News Corp.’s Rupert Murdoch has already said that he will not bid for either Yahoo or AOL.
Yahoo has said that it is reviewing the offer and studying its options.
