RIM CEOs Resign
The founders and co-CEOs of BlackBerry maker Research in Motion, Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, have resigned their positions, the company announced Sunday. Thorsten Heins, the former COO, is the new president and CEO.
Lazaridis will become the board's vice chair, while Balsillie will remain a director. In a statement, RIM described the move as the implementation of a previously submitted succession plan, which was put into motion by the ex-CEOs themselves.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the copy has no plans to sell itself.
“Mike and Jim took a bold step 18 months ago when RIM purchased QNX to shepherd the transformation of the BlackBerry platform for the next decade,” Heins said in the statement.
