Minnesota Stadium to Be Named Target Field
The Minnesota Twins baseball team announced Monday that its new ballpark, currently under construction in downtown Minneapolis, will be called Target Field, as the result of a 25-year naming rights deal agreed to with Target Corp.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, according to the Star Tribune newspaper. The retail giant also holds the naming rights of the Target Center, a basketball arena located less than a mile from the future baseball stadium.
Best Buy, another Minneapolis-based company, has been a heavy sponsor of Minnesota Twins games for several years, but it is unknown if they bid for the naming rights.
