Mitsubishi Fields Full DLP, LCD 1080p Lines
Mitsubishi is training its sights entirely on 1080p, with the rollout through late summer of nine DLP and eight LCD HDTVs.
“Our focus is on large DLP and on premium LCD,” said the company’s vice president of marketing, Frank DeMartin, in outlining sales goals for the product ranges.
He said that Mitsubishi had achieved a 22 percent market share in 2006 for 60-inch-and over 1080p DLP TVs, and that its target for 2007 was a 25 percent share. In LCD, it grabbed a three percent share of 1080p business in ’06 and was looking to snare seven percent of that market segment in ’07, he said.
