Monday in CE: Google Appears Very Interested in Dominating India Market
Namaste, Google! Connecting the dots on Google's last few announcements, it's clear the search engine has big plans for India.
Leading the smartphone charge is, of course, Android phones, namely Xiaomi and Samsung. There is an entire secondary market for smartphones that might never make it to America. Samsung and Xiaomi have nearly 20 different phones available to the nearly 1.4 billion people in India, selling tens of millions every year with a median price of 10,000 rupees, or $153. Underscoring that is a bunch of new manufacturing plants to support orders that can top 300,000 units of just one model.
