Monster Increases Distribution
Monster Cable, in an effort to make more products available to more specialty dealers and custom installers, will rely more on two-tier distributors.
While several distributors - including Ingram Micro CE (formerly DBL), DSI and Capitol - currently carry many monster products, the company's higher-end product, such as the PowerCenters line of conditioning, protection and energy-management gear, have shipped directly to the CEDIA channel. Custom installers and specialty dealers, though, have complained that national retailers usually get first dibs on those types of products, leaving little or no inventory for smaller players, said Noel Lee, head monster.
"We weren't getting the product out to this industry," he said during the Monster press conference at CEDIA Expo, which runs this week in Indianapolis.
