Attitudes: A Monsterous Approach to Quality Sound
For years we’ve been hearing the same lament from the CE channel: “Younger generations just don’t appreciate quality sound.” That phrase today applies to more than just one generation. It applies to just about all of them.
The proliferation of cheap earbuds, compressed audio files and inferior computer sound systems has made bad sound the norm. Over the last year, smart specialty dealers have told us that good merchandising efforts and a variety of high-quality, higher-margin headphones have help to fuel sales in the category. But they say more needs to be done to turn their full range of customers onto quality sound, especially those who will soon be earning a paycheck.
On that note, we have to give it up to Head Monster Noel Lee and the collaboration between Monster and Beats Electronics, the company backed by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine that has produced the Beats By Dr. Dre line of headphones and the new Beatbox dock system.
