Attitudes: More of the Good
We seem to be hearing the same statements at many of the industry events we’ve been attending lately. The first goes like this:
“The mainstream media is printing and broadcasting so much ‘bad’ economic news that it’s scaring consumers and preventing them from buying anything.”
Come on, it has nothing to do with the media. Consumers don’t have to read a paper or watch the news to know unemployment increases daily, while retirement accounts decrease. If people are lucky enough to have jobs, they’re scared to death they won’t have one tomorrow. All pretty good reasons to cut back spending and build a safety net. That mindset won’t improve until the economy does. Give it at least 12 months.
