More Players, Sophistication

Encouraged by consumer interest, more manufacturers will use CES introduce increasingly sophisticated mobile navigation and rear-seat entertainment products.
At press time, a Sony representative said the company would have a few rear-seat entertainment products at CES—no navigation, however, as the company doesn't see it as a strong market for the U.S. Alpine disagrees. "We continue a very steady sales growth each month," said Steve Witt, vice president, brand marketing and communications, Alpine Electronics of America, adding the company's sales have shifted to about 90 percent DVD platform.
