More Than Just Hardware at Show
By James J. Hodl
CHICAGO -- Amid the paint, nails, plasterboard, door knockers, garden trimmers and plumber's friends at the 1998 National Hardware Show here, some interesting--and unexpected--retail products made their debut last month.
Three companies chose to enter new product categories and had the appliances (or at least their prototypes) on display. There also were slimmer range hoods, portable air conditioners with remote controls and timers, and steam cleaners that resembled stick vacs. Manufacturers continued to refine and add features to wet/dry utility vacs, and one wet/dry product wasn't even a vac.
