Motorola drove the popularity of its Droid phone to huge quarter, as the company posted a profit of $162 million, up from $26 million the same time in 2009.
The company posted sales of $5.4 billion during the quarter, including $1.7 billion in its mobile device division.
"As we continue to execute on our business strategy, we are in a strong position to continue improving our share in the rapidly growing smartphone market and improving our operating performance," Sanjay Jha, Motorola's co-chief executive officer and CEO of Motorola Mobility, said in a statement.
