Paul Jacobs is the new president of loudspeaker manufacturer Klipsch Audio Technologies. Since 2000, Jacobs served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Klipsch Worldwide Products Group. He joined Klipsch as a manufacturer's rep in 1991, and has held a number of executive positions for the company. Jacobs has over 21 years of retail, manufacturing, sales and management experience, as well as recording experience as a guitarist.
CEDIA named veteran trade show executive Patty Voss as its trade show director. Voss, boasting over 14 years of experience in the event-planning industry, will direct CEDIA EXPO as well as CEDIA's participation in other trade shows. She has organized numerous small and large events for companies and organizations in several industries.
Roxanne Austin will resign as president and chief operating officer of Hughes' DIRECTV unit and as executive vice president of Hughes Electronics upon completion of The News Corp.'s acquisition of 34 percent of Hughes common stock. In her two-plus years with DIRECTV, Austin is credited with focusing DIRECTV during a period when its ultimate ownership was always in question. She oversaw substantial growth for DIRECTV, with revenues up 37 percent and the subscriber base up 34 percent.
