The Digeo Moxi HD DVR, which company CEO Greg Gudorf said yesterday had been “making headway in the market” since its recent release via launch retailer amazon.com, will be enhanced this spring with a suite of software releases that add functionality to the product. Moreover, according to Gudorf, the company is “exploring adding other dealers and other forms of distribution,” including the custom installation channel.
“There are a couple of small tests under way with dealers,” he said. “We want to make sure we make the transition to retail properly. We’re taking a walk-before-run mode, but we are beginning to entertain distribution partnerships beyond amazon.com.”
The recorder, which is cable-TV-compatible and was optimized from the first for use with widescreen TVs, costs the consumer a one-time outlay of $799, but there are no fees or subscriptions attached to its use. It is being positioned by Digeo as a premium product that goes beyond simple HD DVR utility, said Gudorf.
