MyerConnex Eyes Expansion
Washington, D.C., retailer MyerEmco closed shop about a year ago after five decades in business, but former CEO Jon Myer is far from finished with the consumer electronics industry.
Shortly after closing his retail stores, Myer last year launched MyerConnex, which is being marketed as "home electronics expert" service, providing design and installation services, networking solutions, and design and consultation services. Based in Washington, the new company is presently working only with former MyerEmco clients, but plans to expand to more clients this year.
"After the economic downturn and shutting down MyerEmco, I got to spend some time thinking about whether to get back into this roller coaster of a buysiness, and decided to do it if I could under different terms," Myer told Dealerscope in an interview last week. The new company focuses on audio/video and integration, with iPads playing a big role in the mix.
