Nanit’s all-in-one combination baby monitor/sleep tracker made its IFA 2018 debut last week, after its U.S. launch at Amazon and buybuy Baby and its Canadian debut on Babies R Us.
Aaron Pollack, vice president of marketing and sales, explained that the monitoring system is the result of optimizing the security camera to focus from a certain height above the crib at a 130-degree angle on the crib area as well as an area just outside the crib parameters. The Nanit mounts on a wall and there is modular cable management that attaches the cable securely for its entire length against the wall.
The device tracks parental habits (i.e., how often they check on the baby, etc.), and offers tips to help the baby achieve a regular sleep routine. It also monitors ambient conditions in the room, such as temperature and humidity. Further, it is compatible with Amazon Alexa, letting parents ask how the baby slept. The system also maintains a 30-day video history, which helps with tracking sleep trends and with formulating a sleep coaching plan.
The Nanit app is available for iOS and Android devices, and there is an optional Multi-stand that allows Nanit to become portable.
