Nationwide Heads Boldly Forth in 2002
By David Dritsas
Despite a tumultuous economic year, the national consumer electronics buying group Nationwide reported growth and stability, as well as new members and service initiatives, including a major advance into B2C e-commerce.
Nationwide added seven new retailers to its ranks, including TV & Appliance, Inc. in Tyler Texas, Appliance City in New York, RTA International of California, Wallace Appliance in Huntsville Alabama, Texas Appliance and Builder Supply in Arlington, and Hahn Appliance Center in Oklahoma. Combined the retailers add $500 million in sales, according to Robert Weisner, one of three directors at Nationwide. The group's BrandsDirect division also was able add 400 storefronts when the Retail Dealers of America became the newly formed BrandsDirect Southwest division.
