If the most recent PrimeTime Show was any indication, we knew Nationwide Marketing Group had some serious plans to grow its connected home offerings. In June, the buying group formed the industry’s first Connected Home Division, and has since added several new vendor partners to the Home Technology Specialists Nationwide (HTSN) CI community. Now, Nationwide is readying its next smart home venture with the introduction of the Google Nest Prime Retail Program, exclusively for its members.
Built on the success of the Pro-Tail Program, the Google Nest Prime Retail Program will give Nationwide members access to Google Nest’s entire lineup of products including Nest Hubs, Nest Thermostats, and more. But unlike the Pro-Tail Program, the Google Nest Prime Retail Program will allow products to be sold off the shelf in a normal retail environment, and then installed by either the dealer or consumer themself.
“For the past couple of years, our members have had access to our group-exclusive Pro-Tail program to provide professional installation services for Google Nest products in customers’ homes. Today we’re building off of the success of that program with the launch of the Google Nest Prime Retail Program,” says Hank Alexander, director of Home Technology Specialists Nationwide (HTSN). “The Google Nest Prime Retail Program will provide our independent retail members with wider access to Google Nest connected home products. We’ll introduce new ways for members to buy product and new promotions around the program, but this is really about giving our members access to industry-leading connected home devices and positioning them at the forefront of the booming connected home category.”
To assist in bringing this new program to the national level, Nationwide has recruited Audio America to serve as the national distribution partner for the Prime Retail Program. The consumer electronics and 12V products distributor has been a longtime partner of Nationwide’s and has played a major role in the Pro-Tail Program.
“We’re incredibly excited to work with Nationwide and Google Nest to bring this program to the Nationwide membership,” says Jonathan Elster, CEO of Audio America. “There’s a ton of opportunity in the connected home space for independent retailers. We’ve seen double-digit growth in this category year-over-year, and the Prime Retail Program will put Nationwide members in a perfect position to capitalize on that.”
Both Google Nest and Audio America will be on the show floor at Nationwide’s biannual PrimeTime trade fair and business conference in Houston from Feb. 9-12. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to discuss details of the partnership with representatives from each of the three companies. Nationwide members will also get a chance to test out some of the Google Nest products, enjoy exclusive promotions from Audio America, and even sign up to become a Prime Retail Program dealer on the spot.
