This year’s NATM vendor show and conference in Dallas last week, themed “Embracing Change Together,” marked the first full year of the buying group under Executive Director Jerry Satoren’s stewardship. At the conference, he provided some insights into the membership’s 2015 business, and talked about programs and initiatives designed to help members make a successful end-of-year journey into 2016.
“This has been a great year, with lots of goals met. In fact, we overachieved,” Satoren said, estimating that total sales figures for the year for the group would likely be about $5.5 billion – a half-billion more than last year. Membership mix is about two-thirds CE retailers and one third major appliance retailers, he said.
“I am gratified…I’m surprised by the amount of sharing among members, and how they have each other’s backs,” he said. This has helped the group “divide and conquer” competition from large retailers and forge closer relationships with vendor partners, he added.
