Neofect’s Smart Glove ‘Gamifies’ the Hand Rehab Process
Neofect’s Smart Glove takes hand paralysis rehabilitation literally in hand, as recently demonstrated at the CES Unveiled event in New York.
A high-tech device that can be used by the patient at home, it is said by Neofect to “gamify” the process of post-stroke rehabilitation, making therapy fun and motivating through a series of rehab games that the wearer is encouraged to progress through.
The Neofect Smart Glove attaches to the user’s hand, tracks movement, and stimulates neuroplasticity – defined as the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, especially in response to learning or experience or following injury – by repetition. Its sensory technology captures the rehab patient’s movements and transfers the data to a smartphone app, keeping track of movement progress and improvement. The Glove is lightweight and is made of an elastomer material that is easy to clean and maintain, says the company.
The Neofect Smart Glove system includes the device, the app and a tablet.
