Netflix Hires New Exec For Streaming
In another indication that the future of home entertainment lies more in downloads and streaming than in discs bought or rented, Netflix last week hired a new executive devoted to cutting deals involving video streaming.
Gregory Peters, formerly of Macrovision Solutions Corp., has accepted the position, San Francisco Business Times reported Thursday. In the newly created job, Peters will oversee streaming video for television, and report to chief product officer Neil Hunt.
In the past year, Netflix has released the Netflix Player by Roku, and also reached similar deals, for products presently at various stages of development and released, with LG, Microsoft, Tivo, Samsung and others.
