Sharp Electronics Corp. has launched a major new advertising campaign showing its latest Aquos HDTVs. The campaign, which includes television spots as well as other advertising, emphasizes Sharp's addition of a fourth color, yellow, to the RGB format used in most previous TVs.
The technology was first shown at International CES in January. The advertisements, feature "Star Trek" actor George Takei portraying a Sharp engineer.
The campaign started with print ads Thursday, with a "teaser" television ad debuting March 20. More commercials will follow, to air on such popular programs as "Lost," "The Office," and "NCIS." These will be followed by the Sharp AQUOS Experience, which will tour the country this summer showcasing the technology.
