New Age to Distribute Panasonic Commercial Plasmas, Draws 300 to Northeast Regional Event

Distributor New Age Electronics hosted 300 of its New York, New Jersey and Connecticut dealers Oct. 25 at a first-ever event in Weehawken, N.J.’s Chart House, across the Hudson from New York City. The event was a prelude to New Age’s announcement today that it would increase its product offerings to include the Panasonic professional line of plasma TVs. The agreement expands the Panasonic portfolio carried by New Age, which became the company’s exclusive West Coast distributor of consumer plasma and LCD TVs, Blu-ray disc players, high-definition camcorders and digital imaging products for California, Nevada, Washington, Oregon and Idaho in 2006. New Age expanded the agreement with Panasonic to the East Coast in May.
“This is really meant as a dealer welcome night – and a ‘talk to’ opportunity,” said Fred Towns, New Age’s senior vice president at the reception, which heralded New Age’s entry into the territory with displays of Panasonic professional plasmas and H-P products. A highlight of the reception was the appearance of New York Knicks basketball icon John Starks, who socialized and signed autographs for guests. The event also featured a Wii bowling contest with the first prize being a 42-inch Panasonic plasma TV, a drawing for various sports memorabilia and a silent auction, the proceeds of which were slated for charity.
