New Amazon Study Reveals How to Get Better Product Reviews
- Amazon reviews are largely influenced by incentivized reviewers
- Products for "free or discounted prices" are given substantially better reviews
- Amazon Vive, the in-house review teams, gives harshest ratings
A recent data curation of more than 7 million Amazon reviews has revealed that customers receiving a product "for free or at a discount in exchanged for [an] honest, unbiased review" might be drastically shaping the entire system.
ReviewMeta explains that of the more than 7 million reviews, 70% (5 million) were unbiased, giving on average 4.36 stars. The incentivized 30% (2.2 million) provided an average of 4.74 stars.
