Acoustic Edge also offers a home audio module as part of the curriculum, since more specialty shops are performing home theater installs. In most large specialty stores, an employee with both skills can be the hero of the day if he deals with more than mobile electronics.
“Our students learn not only mobile electronics and fabrication, but also interior work and home and business installs. If a storefront one of our students is working in has home installs our students can jump in and help finish a job,” Wright said.
Another installation school that is looking toward the future of OEM integration is Ritop School for Mobile Electronics (www.ritop.com), led by industry veteran Richard Inferrera. “We dedicate 50 percent of our students’ instruction time to real-world installs in our full-service bays,” Inferrera said.
