New Boston Apple Store is a Monster
Apple is getting set to unveil its first-ever Apple Store in downtown Boston, and to drum up interest it has given the outside of the store a green facade.
The store, on Boylston Street across from the Prudential Center skyscraper, is clearly meant to resemble the Green Monster, the left field wall at Fenway Park, where the Boston Red Sox play their home games. In letters resembling Fenway’s old-fashioned, hand-operated scoreboard, the facade reads “APPLE STORE, BOYLSTON ST,” with smaller lettering above it reading “Opening Day, Coming soon.”
The store will be Apple’s ninth in Massachusetts; it already has Apple Stores in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood, as well as neighboring Cambridge, Braintree, Burlington and Peabody.
