Tracking the Trends
JVC will use Expo to introduce a new 720p model and three 1080p models with second-generation 120Hz panels, which feature ClearMotion Drive II circuitry, a technology that provides multidirectional capability for better horizontal, vertical and blur correction. JVC will also spotlight its recently shipped HD-1 front projector, which offers a native 15,000:1 contrast ratio. “We’ve seen a lot of people introduce lower-priced 1080p front projectors, and I think you’ll see products like that continue to grow,” McCarron said, adding that the lower-priced, higher-quality units should help open new markets for retailers and installers.
JVC has added the new high-speed LCD sets to its 1080p-themed National Product Tour, in which a tractor trailer crosses the country and stops at air shows, wine tastings and other festivals to “expose our product to the right type of people who are wandering around with plenty of free time on their hands,” McCarron said.
The big trend with 1080p technology is that it’s making its way into more affordable products, said Mike Hench, president of the EDGE Distributors Group.
