New Web site Tracks Wii Stock, But Shortage Remains
Consumers coveting the Nintendo Wii this holiday season but having trouble finding one are in luck. The new Website www.Wiitracker.com, which is affiliated with the bargain-hunting site BensBargains.net, tracks several dozen Web sites for Wiis in stock. But as the season opens, Wii consoles remain hard to come by- even with the site’s help.
As of Tuesday afternoon, nearly all of the 30-odd sites listed on WiiTracker were listed as “sold out,” while the other two list it as “backorder.”
This represents the second holiday season in his many years in which the Nintendo has had major shortages of the popular console. In an interview last month with the San Jose Mercury News, Nintendo’s president and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime, admitted that the company is “not even close to understanding where the threshold is between supply and demand.”
