2008 CES Takes Step Closer To Convergence
“We think there are still a lot of opportunities for blank, recordable media so we have to work with our customers to find the right planogram,” Patrican said. “We’re trying to find ways to manage the space. If a retailer is going to cut the space by a third, we will try to maximize the space so he can still produce revenue and margins. We’ll also continue to release new products, like accessories, to offer one-stop shopping.”
Maxell has made a big push in the accessories market over the last year and plans to introduce some new products at CES. Those include the Peanutz ear buds, which come in tan, silver and black; two-toned pink and two-toned blue ear hooks to its EH-130 line; a line of rainbow-colored ear buds; Blu-ray/HD DVD lens cleaner system; mini iPod speakers; and digital headphones.
Despite slowing sales of blank CDs and DVDs, people still buy and use a lot of them. To help consumers and professionals create the best-looking discs, Dymo recently released and will be showing off its DiscPainter ($279 MSRP) at CES. The disc printing system features up to 1200 dpi, edge-to-hub printing on all inkjet printable discs, ink density controls, as well as collage and canvas tools.
