The Wireless Speaker and Audio Association unveiled their new WiSA Ready certification. The certification aims to more clearly identify entertainment sources—such as TVs, gaming systems, and computers—that are equipped to deliver up to eight channels of high definition audio to WiSA Certified speakers when connected with a WiSA USB transmitter. The launch of the certification coincided with the launch of the first WiSA Ready USB transmitter from association founding member Summit Wireless Technologies, Inc.
WiSA explained that the program “simplified consumer set-up” and can potentially reduce costs by replacing AV receivers or wireless hubs with a low-cost USB accessory. “Using WiSA Ready products makes it extremely simple and convenient for consumers to enjoy wireless multi-channel sound, eliminating the clutter, wires and complicated installs previously required to create immersive audio experiences,” the association said in a statement.
The new Summit Wireless Technologies transmitter, the first USB transmitter to launch as a WiSA Ready certified product, enables wireless, multi-channel communication of low-latency, synchronized, and high-def audio between WiSA Certified components and the source. The USB device simply plugs into a WiSA Ready source to deliver that immersive wireless audio home entertainment experience the association has been striving for.
