¥ Fujitsu Delays ¥50 Billion For Plasma
Fujitsu has decided to postpone a ¥50 billion investment to build a plasma display line in fiscal 1998. The company plans to spend the money on exisiting production lines instead and new product development. However, the company will change the product process, cutting out 2/3 of the steps and using larger glass substrates to boost output. Unit output for 42-inch displays is expected to climb from the current 4,000 a month to more than 10,000 before the end of the year.
