The bass-reflex bookshelf type speakers were a joint design effort by Pioneer and hand-made furniture maker Oak Village Corp. and Suntory Ltd., which provided the barrels. Each pair of speakers is unique in wood grain and color. Price is 120,000 yen per pair.
Pioneer introduced a 50-inch XGA quality wide-screen plasma panel display, model PDP-501MX (2,200,000 yen). Its resolution is 1,280 x 768, which is 2.5 times greater than VGA quality and can fully work with XGA video images from PCs as well as HiVision TV. It also works with NTSC composite TV signals, Y/C separate as well as DVD (component video). Brightness is 350 candela.
