¥ Japanese PC Shipments Slip
Domestic PC shipments between April and June decreased 13.8 percent over the same period last year to 1,473,000 units, the fourth consecutive year-on-year decline, according to the Japan Electronics Industry Development Association. Exports during the period plunged 59 percent to 119,000 units. Domestic desktop PC shipments dropped 27 percent to 744,000 units, while notebook PC shipments including subnotebook models increased 7 percent to 729,000 units, rivaling desktop shipments. In value terms, PC shipments plummeted 24 percent to ¥335.3 billion, resulting in a decline in per-unit price.
NEC has introduced a space saving version of FishClub (¥488,000) which is image interior display or virtual aquarium using MPEG-2 technology. "FishClub Junior" is space saving version of original FishClub and has reduced space to place by 50 percent. Size to place is now W580xH405xD468mm.
