Nintendo profits surged in the last nine months of 2007, as the venerable gaming giant rode the huge success of the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS sales to a huge numbers. Bloomberg News reported that Nintendo reported a 63 percent jump in profit, based on net income of $1.2 billion. The company’s operating profit for the third quarter only was $1.93 billion.
The numbers were for the nine-month period, which ended Dec. 31, a common reporting method in the Japanese market.
The company responded to the numbers by raising its Wii sales forecast, to 18.5 million units, despite the slowing economy.
