Amazon's popular Kindle reader may be about to get a new rival.
Nintendo has, in the U.K. only to start, introduced a new application to make the Nintendo DS portable gaming console into a book reader. According to the Times of London the software, called the "100 Classic Book Collection," includes a variety of famous literary works from throughout history, and Nintendo plans to release more books if the collection is successful.
It is uncertain if or when Nintendo plans to make the software available outside Britain. The Kindle is not available in that country, although the Sony Reader was released in the fall.
