Nintendo Ups Console Sales Goal to 300 million
Despite especially strong sales of late- as exemplified by Nintendo taking the top two spots in a recent NPD Group survey of the highest-selling game consoles in the U.S, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata isn’t resting on his laurels. According to Reuters (in a report picked up by the Boston Globe), he told a news conference in Osaka on Thursday that he’s raising his sales goal to 300 million combined units worldwide of the Wii and DS consoles.
Such a goal would constitute a doubling of Nintendo’s current sales. The DS and Wii placed one and two in the March NPD survey, which found that they had sold 508,000 DS units and 259,000 Wii consoles in the U.S.
