Nintendo Not Budging on Wii Price
The $249 price of the Nintendo Wii will not drop this holiday season, an executive with the company told Reuters Friday.
George Harrison, Nintendo’s U.S. head of marketing, also said in the interview that the company’s two biggest challenges this winter with the Wii to meet strong demand, and to persuade the company’s management to allocate enough supply to the U.S. market. Even at the $249 price point, the Wii remains less expensive than Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3.
Last month, the Wii officially surpassed the Xbox 360 to become the highest-selling console of the current gaming generation, despite debuting a year after its rival.
