Monster is forging ahead with its rebranded identity—as more than just a high-performance cable company—and it put this Monster 2.0 moniker on display for the gathered media at its press conference on Tuesday morning at CES 2016 in Las Vegas. At their event in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, the company debuted a whole slate of new and expanded product lines, including new Sport headphones developed in collaboration with adidas, an expanded ROC by Monster line of headphones (backed by international soccer star Christiano Ronaldo), and new wireless Bluetooth speakers.
Two announcements, though, stand out above the rest.
First is Monster’s attempt to resuscitate the boombox. The SuperStar Monster Blaster, introduced by Head Monster Noel Lee, is a powerful, high-wattage product that produces bi-directional sound with full and deep bass. Lee touted the Blaster’s speaker design—the V-shaped cabinet with drivers on both sides allows the Blaster to project “room-filling sound on either side of the speaker.” This creates direct and reflective sound that Monster said comes towards the user and bounces off of the wall to create a “complete immersive experience” that they are calling V-Sound.
