Nokia to Replace Batteries
Nokia Corp. this week announced that it will replace batteries on 46 million of its handsets sold between 2005 and 2006, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
According to the company’s Web site, “Nokia has identified that in very rare cases the affected batteries could potentially experience over heating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge. Nokia is working closely with relevant local authorities to investigate this situation.” The recall applies to BL-5C batteries, as a result of more than 100 “incidents” which have taken place due to overheating of the batteries.
