NRF Sees 4.5 Percent Jump in Sales
Retail sales rose 4.5 percent year-over-year in November with the consumer electronics sector jumping 6.6 percent year over year, according to National Retail Federation estimates released Tuesday.
The Department of Commerce reported earlier in the day that overall sales had risen 0.2 percent over October and 6.8 percent year-over-year.
“Retailers know that the best way to entice shoppers this holiday season would be through strong promotions, as consumers remain very discount-driven on larger discretionary purchases,” NRF Chief Economist Jack Kleinhenz said as part of the announcement. “Moderate retail sales increases every month have significantly contributed to America’s economic recovery."
