We’re just a few short weeks removed from the conclusion of the Value Electronics 2016 TV Shootout at CE Week, but I’m beyond excited to see how the 2017 edition plays out. As you know, and as we’ve reported, LG has had a stranglehold on the Shootout three years running now.
(A quick primer for those who are unaware of the TV Shootout, the event is run by TV calibration experts Robert Zohn and Joel Silver, who take the top-in-class models released over the course of the previous 12 months, calibrate them, and grade them across a number of categories. A winner is then selected based on performance as well as audience input. It’s a real videophile showcase.)
At the Shootout this year, LG came thisclose to cleaning house, sweeping all but one category—Day Time Viewing—which it dropped to Sony.
