New High For OLED Revenues
OLED set a record for global revenue in the second quarter with $192 million, a 32 percent gain over the last quarter and 22 percent over the same period last year. That's according to the latest Quarterly OLED Shipment and Forecast Report from research firm DisplaySearch.
DisplaySearch also projected that OLED market for the year, estimated at $600 million last year, will reach $6.2 billion by 2016. It also predicted that mobile OLED will eventually overtake OLED TV in terms of application.
"AMOLED [active-matrix organic light-emitting diode] displays have become an important differentiating feature for high end electronic products," Jennifer Colegrove, DisplaySearch's Director of Display Technologies said as part of the announcement.
