Headphone Market Predictions for 2011
We are working on an over-ear headphone with active noise cancellation and would like to incorporate a horn-loaded design concept into headphones in the future. That would be a legitimate fusion of our heritage technology into a smaller package. We’re targeting mid summer for our new 2011 model intros in on-ear and over-ear designs.
Crystal Griffith, Consumer Marketing Manager, Audio-Technica*:* I think we’re going to continue to see growth in the next year. We’re feeling really good about the new headphone line we introduced at CES. Our new active noise-canceling in-ear headphones will round out a line of affordable ANC products we’ve been developing. We’ve also had a great reaction to the Solid Bass line that features our Dual Air Chamber System design. Updating our headphone line to include models for more niche markets like travelers, sports enthusiasts, style watchers and audiophiles has already garnered much attention.
We plan to increase spending on advertising and to place more freestanding displays for our product in stores. This seems to be a tactic that many dealers like because headphone space is limited so it helps dealers find a way to boost the category by merchandising products in other areas of their stores.
