Headphone Market Predictions for 2011
*Koss:* The industry is growing in the high teens at retail. We would imagine a year of double-digit increases, but I think we have to get a few more of these other hot category products out there to do that. People use these products so much every day; there’s such a replacement business out there. And no one buys a single headphone for all uses any more; they buy one for traveling, one for their workouts, one for gaming.
We’re looking at shoring up our offerings in all different areas, like gaming, 7.1 surround headsets, or headphones geared to communication like VoIP or for use with PCs.
*Aiello:* Moving into 2011, our focus is on new, higher-priced in-ear models that will fill the price gap between $129 and $349. That in-between area is a growth area and one where we believe Klipsch can really shine.
