On-the-Go Accessories: Powerbag, Joy Factory
CES accessory intros included a wide choice of items designed to accommodate the mobile needs of portable media device owners.
The Powerbag line, from RFA Brands, is a collection of backpacks, messenger bags, slings and more traditional bag styles ranging from $139.95 up that let users charge their mobile devices right inside the bag. Each bag holds a removable, rechargeable universal smart-charging system that can power up to four devices at once; pre-routed connectors included are one micro, one mini, one Apple connector, and one USB port. Battery sizes available include 3000mAh, 6000mAh, and 90000mAh, all of which can be recharged in any standard wall outlet with an included AC adapter. One line, the Urban Collection Underground Backpack, features pockets for a tablet, cell phone and MP3 player. Other collections just introduced are the professional-oriented Executive Collection, which sports a TSA-friendly “fly flat” feature, and the Ful Collection, a deluxe line with the highest-level charging system.
The Joy Factory’s new eGloves ($24.95) solve the issue for mobile device users of how to text, tap and pinch their screens in sub-zero climates without the side effect of finger freeze. While capacitive-screen-compatible gloves aren’t new, e-Gloves have been designed so that all 10 of the gloves’ fingers will work on a touch screen, making negotiating the bigger real estate of a tablet a lot easier, said the company. And since the special thread that works on the screens is concentrated only in the gloves’ fingertips rather than throughout the gloves, it’s easier to control gestures across the entire screen. The gloves are made of acrylic versus nylon, for greater comfort and warmth, and come in gray or a gray-black striped pattern.
